Satrok HammerFell's Sundered Shield

      Submitted by: Quester

It was rumored that Satrok was given the shield by a blind Dwarven cleric of Clangdin the Forger. Satrok agreed to serve Clangdin as a Priest fighter, or paladin as it is now called, in exchange for the gift. In a battle that humans say lasted half a day, Satrok battled with a fiend of darkness. He eventually banished his foe back to the lower depths, but his shield was sundered by his foe's magical sword. Satrok continued to wield the sundered shield until he fell in battle, while defending his Dwarven homeland against a massive Goblinoid assault.

When viewed, nearly the lower 1/3 of this shield is missing. It appears constructed of iron, but closer inspection shows it to be made of a blend of uncommon metals. When viewed in torchlight, the center of the shield bears a coat of arms (two hammers flanking a burning torch) that appears to be two-dimensional image all glowing bright white. The coat of arms on the shield center is that of Satrok Hammerfell. How this image was applied and the techniques used for its construction have never been discovered. The last reported sighting of this shield was nearly 400 years ago.

Dwarves near the player will have a 75% chance of recognizing the shield, even in daylight. Shield statistics:

+3 Charisma to Dwarves when wielded by a Dwarf

- 3 Charisma to Dwarves if not wielded by a Dwarf
