Prestige Classes

In AD&D, players choose a core character class that guides the development and gameplay of their character (i.e. Rogue, Fighter, Wizard). As character advance in to higher levels and meet several prerequisites, they may be allowed to choose a prestige class. Prestige classes were introduced in the 3rd edition's Dungeon Master's Guide. In later editions, the optional prestige classes have instead been replaced by paragon paths and epic destinies, two types of class choices altering the final abilities of the character
