A frigid globe streaks from you to a point of your choice within range, where it explodes in a 60'-radius Sphere. Each creature in that area makes a Con save. Fail: take 10d6 Cold dmg. Success: half as much damage.
If the globe strikes a body of water, it freezes the water to a depth of 6" over an area 30' square. This ice lasts for 1 min. Creatures that were swimming on the surface are trapped in the ice and are Restrained. They must use an action to make a Str (Athletics) check against your spell save DC to break free.
Alternatively, you can make a globe about the size of a sling bullet appear in your hand. You can give, throw (40'), or hurl the globe with a sling (30'). It shatters on impact, with the same effect as a normal casting of the spell. You can also set the globe down. After 1 min, if the globe hasn't shattered, it explodes.
The damage increases by 1d6 for each spell slot level above 6.
