Crime

This page lists rules for performing "criminal activity" during a character's downtime. This offers a rogue the chance to make some extra cash, at the risk of fines and arrest.

  1. Have the player choose a target for their theft (this determines the DC - the wealthier targets are more difficult).
  2. Before rolling, a character must spend one week and at least 25 gp gathering information on potential targets before committing the intended crime.
  3. Have the player perform three different rolls: Dexterity (Stealth)), Dexterity (Thieves' Tools) and the player's choice of Intelligence (Investigation), Wisdom (Perception), or Charisma (Deception). Enter the three rolls in the appropriate fields.
  4. Click submit
When clicking submit, the page will reload and output a result based on the player's roll and choices. The more successful rolls there are, the greater the loot. If all the rolls fail, the player risks a fine and imprisonment. Dealing with imprisonment is determined by the DM. The DM may just wish to charge the thief an even heftier fine, confiscate an item, request that the party to "pay his bail," or create a quest around getting the rogue out of jail (breakout the rogue, release the thief with the agreement to perform a task, etc.).

Note: If the player succeeds on only one of the three rolls, the DM may decide to roll on the complications table. If the character/party has a rival that is involved in crime or law enforcement, a complication ensues if the character succeeds on only two checks.

Crime Complication

A life of crime is filled with complications. If the player succeeds on only one of the three rolls, the DM may decide to roll on the complications table. If the character/party has a rival that is involved in crime or law enforcement, a complication ensues if the character succeeds on only two checks.
