When a marut is destroyed, what remains is usually a husk of fused metal, onyx and mechanical components. However, it is often possible to find a few pieces of salvageable, magically infused scrap metal. The metal can be used to craft pieces of armor.

When harvested, the creature yields 1d8 pieces of useable scrap metal. To craft a set of medium armor, a smith requires 4 pieces of marut scrap metal. A set of heavy armor requires 6 pieces.

A marut is a large construct made of metal, onyx and gold. Most of the onyx shatters when the marut reaches 0 hit points, but some shards may be found.

Inside a Marut is a collection of complex robotic components, include wires, sensors, circuit boards and magical batteries. All of these components fetch a high price in gnomish communities and with skilled artificers.

Inside of each marut is a thin golden plate, with various geometric symbols etched on its surface (if the plate survives the constructs destruction). The symbols are the modron language, and outline a contract with instructions for the Marut, which the creature would follow to the letter. The plate is valued for the gold, but is also valued for its contents. If the holder of the plate fulfills the Marut's instructions, a high price can be collected from the Kolyarut (the modron that write the contract), in the Hall of Concordance, in Sigil. Or, if the gold plate is given to the party that broke the contract, it may be possible to collect an award for destroying the Marut.

Many harvested goods will start to rot and decay after a period of time. Below is a quick overview of how we determine expiration dates, and is used as a guide for most harvested items. Note: It is always up to the DM to decide on the exact expiration.

Slimes and gels tend to have a longer shelf-life than other fluids. However, if exposed to air, it gets ruined VERY quickly.

Most poisons are viable for about 2 week. However, each poison is different. In additions, proficiency with a poisoner's kit may allow assassins the ability to extend the shelf-life every few weeks (adding other ingredients to extend the poison's usefulness)

Usually a strip of skin, which can be preserved with some oil to last a little longer than other flesh.
Wings

While wings contain flesh, which rots quickly, the bones and leather/feather last much longer, making the wings usefulness last longers.
